Background

Countries scrambled to provide accurate data to their citizens as COVID spread around the world. Most dashboards were only updated at the end of the day and lack important context.

The new dashboard needed to be dynamic – being updated with timely information and integrate with RSS feeds.

Technology

Headless architecture allows this dashboard to be adapted across multiple geographies and languages.

Designed for growth + resilience

It would have been easy to establish a creative direction for this dashboard that speaks to its users’ anxiety and fear. However, this would have been antithetical to the reason this exists to begin with; to provide hope, much-needed clarity, a sense of peace, and even control. The design had to be innovative, approachable, and instil a trustworthy tone and voice.

Sans serif headings (IBM plex mono), paired with a sans serif body font (inter) provide a mix of sophistication while remaining accessible and approachable. The animations incorporated throughout the site, such as drop-down menus or scrolls, are all smooth and elegant, accentuating the calm and soothing tone.

The impact of COVID on our societies and our families cannot be overstated. This dashboard plays a role in increasing awareness of and access to preventative information is something I’ll be proud of for years to come.
